An annual event some 8 miles up the river of Rhine at St. Goar is the mid September occurence of "Rhein in Flammen" (River of Rhine Aflame), a wine festival topped by fireworks. Giving you spectacular views, the experience is topped by the feeling of the sound of the exploding fireworks. At St. Goar the Rhine exceeds not more than about 150 yards in width, the fireworks are fired from the middel of the river and the narrow valley boosts back all the sounds.
