A more traditional still life composition. About five years ago I bought a seedling at the San Francisco Orchid Show for $5. The thing about seedlings is that, genes being what they are, you never really know what you're going to get. The orchid bloomed for the first time this week and I was delighted by the spectacular purple flowers. I found that sunlight provided the best lighting, picking up "sparkles" that I could never get to appear under flash lighting.
