While they lack some of the mystique of old fashioned hay mounds, I confess to rather liking the graphic look of a pasture dotted in huge hay-ball-cubes. (Or, if we must, dotted in chocolate Marshmallows, or rolls of giant toilet paper.) The snow here adds an extra element, giving the impression of frosted shredded wheat. Advanced practitioners of seeing-things-beyond-what-is may look to the first picture to see a monolith, or a portal to the world next door. (I stepped through and was confronted by a giant mouse.)
