This past weekend, I went outside into the frigid weather to take some photos capturing the essence of winter in California. I bundled up, because it was nearly 152 degrees below boiling! I packed my camera gear and hiked into the wilderness, where I spotted some local fauna with their winter coloring and coats.
This first picture is a group of emperor penguins, watching for predators. These swimming birds are fearless when it comes to the safety of their young.
